Carrier lost, experience earnt

by Nathan on Jan.21, 2010, under EVE

Never move ships when you’re in a hurry. Especially not into unknown systems with kickout stations.

Yesterday I decided to gung ho it and move my carrier. Was a little tired, on my way to bed and set up the cyno too close to station which meant i bounced 24km off the blasted thing. It’s exciting to do 1+km/s with a carrier lol.

A Rapier uncloaks on the undock (guess they camp it since its a kickout) and proceeds to light a cyno. Ganktime commences with 10 or so carriers that neut the snot out of me and reduce my wreck to a smoldering heap.

Good times.

Well, as long as I learn from this and:

  1. Dont move stuff before going to bed, do it with a clear mind
  2. Wait for other alliance and get input and experienced help with moving the fkn carrier, even though we become red in current location
  3. Didnt want that carrier anyways

Down the rabbits hole

by Nathan on Jan.09, 2010, under EVE

A few corpmates have been living in a low class worm hole for most of the fall.

They wanted out and a few of us bought them out. The worm hole has a static class 4 connection and a few of us did a few sites this morning. Each c 4 anomaly net somewhere between 100 and 125 m isk and we do them in about 30 mins excluding salvage.

If we get a few good worm holes with a good amount of anomalies I hope that we can do a few billions to split on four, it would be really nice.

A good weekend

by Nathan on Dec.14, 2009, under EVE

No losses, a few kills and a little wormhole thrill.

This friday, I undocked a shield-buffered Hurricane that my alts been skilling for. Dual medium neutralizers, some dakka dakka autocannons and a permarunning MWD means good times.

On the first kill I missed the tackle of Raimo in a Fed Navy Comet by a corpmate so he popped my mates Taranis while I was in warp. After I landed, I tackled, dried him up and beat him down. The same clown must have had about 10 Comets which he entered Providence with and subsequently got popped and podded.

I bought a sabre and we started roaming providence in Intys, AFs and a Dictor. We caught Raimo a second time and popped him again.

After that I switched to scanner / drake and set of into the unknown, wormholes and started looking for good wormholes with anomalies so I could stack up on nanoribbons for T3-production.

Unfortunately, I didnt find one single nanoribbon in the class 2 and class 1 I was doing the entire day. Next time I’m doing C3, apparently the droprate of nano ribbons are much higher on the higher class wormholes.

After I got tired of sitting alone in a WH the entire day I found an exit in lowsec and powered home. Switched to the trusted Sabre and joined the roaming gang in Providence.

We managed to snag a Cruiser before bedtime 100km from a gate. A UK Bellicose which got my sabre into hull after I had bubbled it, but I managed to motor out of the bubble and warp to another gate eve though he tackled me. Pure luck, I was a litte trigger happy, because we had an Arazu on the way to tackle him.

Hydra had a gang with bombers and faction frigates out and about so we decided to dock up and I went to bed. Apparently they raided a carbear camp in a system which ended horribly.

Project 1000 DPS for PVE

by Nathan on Dec.09, 2009, under EVE

I recently bought a Nightmare and I’ve been pimping it steadily.

My current fitting for the Nightmare is a real shitfit to be honest.

Hi: 4x T2 Tachyons

Med: XL Named shieldbooster, T1 Shield boost amp, 2x Cap rech, T2 Invuln, 2x mission hardener

Low: 2x T2 PDS, 1 T2 Heat Sink, 2 Imperial Navy Heat Sink

One more IN HS is coming on there, after that I’m going to pimp the tank a little with CN Invuln and maybe deadspace booster and amp. We’ll see. :)

On all lvl 5 in EFT I can break 1170 DPS with a couple of +5% damage implants, so this is what I’m currently aiming for, although the amount of lvl5 skills that are needed for that kind of damage output is plain silly. So I’m going for broke with 1000 DPS with faction Multi including drones and implants if necessary.

Aiming for something silly like this is good for your overall skill layout. I get to max out my gunnery and drone skills. After that I’m going to max out my shield tanking skills, even though the arent strictly necessary.

We ran a couple of missions yesterday in corp and it was almost ridiculus, I managed to gank most rats in at most three volleys. By then my mates drones hadnt even reached the target. LOL!

Five kills with a HAM Drake

by Nathan on Nov.30, 2009, under EVE

My alt skilled into a T2 HAM Drake the other day. Not an insane amount of DPS but a good combination with EHP. I recently flew this fitting in a fleet and helped popping in total five ships.

The fitting is as follows:

HI: 7 T2 HAM

Med: MWD2, J5b Scram, X5 Web, 2x Invuln2, LSE2

Low: PDU2, DC2, 2x BCU2

Drones: Hobgoblin2

If you exchange the PDU for an RCU I think there is room for a small energy neutralizer in the last top slot.

For a bigger fleet with more dedicated tackle I think I’ll change the EWAR to Tp + WD2.

Seven day delay

by Nathan on Nov.30, 2009, under EVE

Last night I bought the Large Beam Specialization skill for my main and tried to inject it.

Tried. I thought I’d trained Sharpshooter 5 earlier but that wasnt so. Now I have a 7 day delay before I can fit T2 Tachyons on the Nightmare.

I was about to buy a nice Shield Boost Amp but I had to invest in a cloaky hauler for my alt which set me back a little…

Nightmare pimping started

by Nathan on Nov.26, 2009, under EVE

Today, I finish skilling for T2 Tachyons and that will give a good boost in DPS, appart from that I got one Amarr Navy Heatsink. That was one out of three, I just haveto mission a little for the ISK for tags.

I had three Capacitor Flux Coils in the lowslots and two heatsinks for a little more cap. I exchanged one for another heatsink which gave a nice DPS-boost since I’m not fully skilled in Caldari BS yet. Well, I probably wont either, lvl 4 feels good enough. There are gunnery skills that can cover that hole.

New missioning ship

by Nathan on Nov.23, 2009, under EVE

I bought a new missioning ship this weekend. Was torn between a nightmare and a paladin but in the end the vertical ship won!

Just tried it out and need more time with my pod in the ship but so far its awesome. Will get even better when I get T2 Tachyons fitted. Since my strong side is the armor tanking I had a hard time tanking some spawns and then I got a Guristas mission. Damn, I almost fell asleep, the tachs do pack a punch but against Kin/therm-rats they felt almost worthless.

Went for my alt’s Tengu and with Scourge Fury I downed one BS rat with the Nightmare and two with the Tengu. Silly DPS when using the correct ammo!

Will post a fitting when I finalize it, need to gather some ISK for better fittings…

Fitting for missions

by Nathan on Nov.12, 2009, under EVE

After reading a fitting article that Crazykinux posted regarding my trusted old warhorse the Dominix I was a little intrigued about how people fit for missions.

Omnitank has never been anything I want to recommend and its really a pity that the beast that the Domi is doesnt shine in the posted fitting. I’ve earlier posted a fitting for Blood/Sansha pirates, but it’s really easy to change hardeners to other rats.

My fitting lets you pull full aggro and go AFK, two large armor reppers, four mission specific hardeners and a suit case for emergencies. 1200+ repped DPS is pretty awesome!

The other way to go with a Dominix is a rigged Sentry Dominix but that requires a more hefty Sp investment with Tech 2 sentries.

Gentlemen, we have a problem

by Nathan on Nov.06, 2009, under EVE

Welcome to the thirteenth installment of the EVE Blog Banter, the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by CrazyKinux. The EVE Blog Banter involves an enthusiastic group of gaming bloggers, a common topic within the realm of EVE Online, and a week to post articles pertaining to the said topic. The resulting articles can either be short or quite extensive, either funny or dead serious, but are always a great fun to read! Any questions about the EVE Blog Banter should be directed here. Check out other EVE Blog Banter articles at the bottom of this post!

The first banter of this 2nd year of EVE Blog Banters comes to us fromZargyl from A Sebiestor Scholar, who asked the following: On the EVE Fanfest 2009 page are pictures of prizes for the Silent Auction that was held during the event. One of these photos was entitled “Design your own EVE mission”. My question now would be what kind of mission would you write if you got that prize? What would the mission be about? Would it be one using the new system of epic mission arks? What would be the story told by it? Feel free to expand upon his questions and put together your very own mission!

There is a strange paradox in MMO:s which both is interesting and irritating. Even though it is a Massively Multiplayer Online game, most people prefer to do their own thing.

In EVE, you want as much a reward as possible for your time, this means that you do as much as you can solo because if you mix in another player you reward is halved. This means that you haveto have a pay out of at least double of what you can do alone…

So, how can you make missionrunning capsuleers want to do missions as a group?

I read in some of the other blogs about making mercenary contracts more like missions which would truly be awesome. Imagine designing your own mission with objectives like killratio, destroyed ISK or a period of time.

One other  thing that I enjoy is escalations and I think more missions should be like that, you scan down a agent in a ship in a system and get a mission. Maybe even a mission that you haveto do in a fleet on several locations simultaneously?

Missionrats should also get an upgrade, give them the Sleeper AI please. I really need missions that are more Al Dente. Today I field a maxed out domi with dualrep tank and just plow through the missions. Boring but it gives isk, if they were a little smarter I’d probably hate them but it would give a little more edge to the entire isk-farming business.
