New missioning ship

by Nathan on Nov.23, 2009, under EVE

I bought a new missioning ship this weekend. Was torn between a nightmare and a paladin but in the end the vertical ship won!

Just tried it out and need more time with my pod in the ship but so far its awesome. Will get even better when I get T2 Tachyons fitted. Since my strong side is the armor tanking I had a hard time tanking some spawns and then I got a Guristas mission. Damn, I almost fell asleep, the tachs do pack a punch but against Kin/therm-rats they felt almost worthless.

Went for my alt’s Tengu and with Scourge Fury I downed one BS rat with the Nightmare and two with the Tengu. Silly DPS when using the correct ammo!

Will post a fitting when I finalize it, need to gather some ISK for better fittings…

Fitting for missions

by Nathan on Nov.12, 2009, under EVE

After reading a fitting article that Crazykinux posted regarding my trusted old warhorse the Dominix I was a little intrigued about how people fit for missions.

Omnitank has never been anything I want to recommend and its really a pity that the beast that the Domi is doesnt shine in the posted fitting. I’ve earlier posted a fitting for Blood/Sansha pirates, but it’s really easy to change hardeners to other rats.

My fitting lets you pull full aggro and go AFK, two large armor reppers, four mission specific hardeners and a suit case for emergencies. 1200+ repped DPS is pretty awesome!

The other way to go with a Dominix is a rigged Sentry Dominix but that requires a more hefty Sp investment with Tech 2 sentries.

LVL4 missions in easymode - Ishtar

by Nathan on Sep.18, 2009, under EVE

I’ve been toying with an Ishtar fitting for missions and this one is really good. I usually pop sentries and start  one MAR2 plus the afterburner. Then I pulse the second MAR2 if it needs it. Just adjust hardeners depending on rats. I only got HAC to 4 so that’s one more skill to get.

Watch out for tacklers though, webbers and scramblers should be primaried.

Mission Apocalypse fitting

by Nathan on May.26, 2009, under EVE

The Apoc is an excellent missioning ship, especially with the range bonus which makes the fitting of short range Pulse Lasers a viable option instead of the traditional Beam Lasers for missions.

I’m also very cheap and like my missioning ships unrigged if possible and with  Amarr Battleship at five I have the Apocalypse fairly cap stable.

This is my current fitting, drones and hardeners to taste obviously. I also carry a set of Microwave crystals for long range targets. T2 Large Pulse Lasers are on my shortlist so I can start using Scorch and get the Multifrequecy DPS at Microwave distances!

Hyperion mission fittings

by Nathan on Dec.28, 2008, under EVE

My missioning hyperion setup

My missioning hyperion setup

I thought I’d post the setup I used before I lost it to being careless in a mission.

Note that I have maxed cap-skills and you might haveto exchange one of the Auxiliary Nano Pumps for another Capacitor Control Circuit.

In the bottom I have one True Sansha Large Armor Repairer, two ratspecific hardeners and three Magnetic Field Stabilizers. Exchanging one MFS for a Damage Control yields another 100 DPS tanked for 50 DPS or so delivered. The True Sansha repairer can be exchanged for a tech 2 variant of the same.

The medium powered slots are setup with a full rack of Cap Rechargers and the high power slots are filled with a mix of 425 mm and 350 mm Railguns.

I usually salvage with another ship, a destroyer fitted and rigged for it.

Harbinger mission fitting

by Nathan on Dec.21, 2008, under EVE

Harbinger pulse mission fitting

Harbinger pulse mission fitting

I’ve been toying with battlecruisers from time to time.

The Harbinger is something that I’ve heard about and it’s mostly good.

This is a setup that I’ve tried for lvl 3 missions.

Named pulses in the top, T2 Cap Rechargers and an T2 Afterburner in the midslots. The lowslots are occupied by a T2 MAR, T2 Damage Control, two T2 rat dependant armor hardeners and two T2 Heat Sinks.

In the drone bay I have hammerheads, but that of course depends on mission.

No rigs on this one but I can imagine you might want to use a mix of Capacitor Control Circuit rigs and Auxiliary Nano Pump rigs.

Dominix mission fitting

by Nathan on Dec.18, 2008, under EVE

dominix-blood-sansha-missions1I will continue with my other favourite drone ship, the Domininx which actually ruined level four missions for me in EVE.

It got to he point where I can sit AFK through most missions just tanking damage and letting my drones sort all the rats.

Two T2 LAR in the lowslots, two hardeners of each damage type, depending on rats really and the suitcase of course.

In the midslots I have five cap rechargers, you can add an Afterburner but then two T2 LAR won’t permarun.

In the highslots I have just added what fits, Dual 250mm Railguns or 350mm Railguns and a Drone Link Augmentor.

The rigs are tree Capacitor Control Circuits.

In the drone bay I have thermal drones. Five T2 Ogres and a mix of smaller drones, maybe add sentries if you need. You will need smaller drones, especially to remove tackling rats.

Mission gank fest?

by Nathan on Nov.20, 2008, under EVE

I have been fiddling with a gank setup for mission running. It’s blasters, afterburners and drones on the menu.

There are two fittings which I’ve been thinking of and there are two setups I’ve been thinking of:

The dynamic duo

by Nathan on Oct.14, 2008, under EVE

I have an alt going and I’ve skilled it towards the Caldari faction, running Crow Interceptors, Falcon Recons, Drake Battlecruisers and soon Raven Battleships.

Trying to maximize the speed of mission running and combining the drone bay of Nathan’s Dominix and the range of a Raven. I have a bit to go with the raven, it will be mostly T1-specced from start, but within a couple of weeks I think it will be a solid missionrunner.

The raven will be entirely passive and the Domi will have a small active tank with some buffer. Here are the two setups I’ve been toying with.

The Raven churns out energy and cruise missiles, relying on the buffer and the shield transport from the Domi.

The Dominix will provide the entire tank, which is really respectable considering. These values are set against Sansha and Blood pirates damage profiles, since they are the most common enemy.

Am I loosing my edge?

by Nathan on Oct.04, 2008, under EVE

Today, I was out running a mission in my trusty Dominix and all of a sudden I get a brainfart and goes to the kitchen and starts doing the dishes, puts on some coffee etc.

When I returned to the computer, of course, I was idling in my pod with a bunch of baddies around.

It didn’t bother me that much, for the ISK, but it bothered me that it’s the fourth or fifth ship that I’ve lost in about two months. Not to pirates or anything, just sloppy gaming.

Maybe I need something new?
